Man-made disasters are frequently a war-causing mass population movement as has been seen from Syria, Iraq and Myanmar. The natural disasters caused by weather, volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and, in particular, disease will trump the damage from any other threat.
The International Disaster Response Expo recognises the unique position of the UK on the global disaster response scene; one of the few nations to meet its international obligation to spend 0.7% of its Gross National Income (GNI) on Foreign Aid and is seen as a centre of excellence for International Disaster Response techniques, procedures and technologies.
It will include a two-day high level Global Disaster Response Conference to showcase the global skills and thoughts of experienced international speakers across government, aid organisations and the private sector. It will also feature panel discussions to examine many of the hard-hitting topics challenging everyone in the disaster response arena.
UK and international experts will share their insights to allow greater understanding of what works, so best practice ideas can be debated and delivered across the disaster response community.
With equipment and technology critical to many disaster response scenarios, the International Disaster Response Expo will showcase many solutions and innovations that make a responder’s tasks possible and easier, allowing for a quicker and more effective disaster response.
