CFR Ireland has taken the decision to defer this year’s conference and exhibition for community first responders until Saturday 6 March 2021, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued following their decision to cancel Respond 2020, CFR Ireland’s Organising Committee said it was very disappointing, adding that nobody is sure what the near future holds.

“Even if the current guidelines for indoor gatherings were to quadruple, we would not be able accommodate the current registrations for ‘RESPOND 2020’. We are delighted to announce that ‘RESPOND 2021’ is now pencilled in for Saturday 5 March 2021 at the Mullingar Park Hotel.

“We would also like to thank all our speakers, workshop presenters, traders, supporters and delegates for your understanding and do hope you can ‘save the date’ and join us in Mullingar on 6 March for Respond2021.”

RESPOND 2020, which had been originally due to take place in April had initially been postponed until October, and in a statement at the time CFR Ireland said it was necessary to postpone the event in the interest of the safety to communities served by CFRs.

“A gathering of large numbers of volunteers, National Ambulance Service personnel and healthcare workers is putting, not just the public at risk, but risking infecting frontline healthcare staff and volunteers,” it had noted.

For community first responders who have already booked CFR Ireland will transfer bookings directly to the new date. This will also ensure delegates get their selected workshops as, except for the date, nothing else has changed with the event.

If the new date does not suit some people, a full ticket refund is available by emailing registration@cfr.ie. And for those who have already booked accommodation at the Mullingar Park Hotel that weekend the hotel will honour the booking for the new date in next March.
