Respond 2020, which was due to take place on Saturday 25 April, has been rescheduled for Saturday 24 October, due to the increasing numbers of the public now contracting the Covid-19 virus.

In a statement CFR Ireland said it was necessary to postpone the event in the interest of the safety to communities served by CFRs. “A gathering of such large numbers of volunteers, National Ambulance Service personnel and healthcare workers is putting, not just the public at risk, but risking infecting frontline healthcare staff and volunteers,” it noted.

Ticket sales for the new date will continue to be on sale with the early bird rate extended to closer to the time. For community first responders who have already booked CFR Ireland will transfer bookings directly to the new date. This will also ensure delegates get their selected workshops as, except for the date, nothing else has changed with RESPOND 2020.

If the new date does not suit some people, a full ticket refund is available by emailing registration@cfr.ie. And for those who have already booked accommodation at the Mullingar Park Hotel that weekend the hotel will honour the booking for the new date in October.

In the meantime, CFR Ireland is asking all CFRs to follow advice issued by the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) with respect to infection precautions. Text ’01’ space and last three digits of call-outs (01 xxx) to the (NEOC) to receive necessary updates from the centre.
