‘WEST WIND’ ENHANCES NORTHERN EMERGENCY FLOODING RESPONSE

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has strengthened its emergency flooding response capability based in the North West with the addition of a new 6.5 meter Rigid Inflatable Boat appropriately named ‘West Wind’.

This new asset will be used by specially trained firefighters at Crescent Link Fire Station in Londonderry District and by the NIFRS Specialist Rescue Team to rescue people trapped or likely to become trapped by flood water and to protect them from serious harm.
