CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) Network Ireland and Carlow Institute of Technology will jointly host a workshop on the CISM response to Workplace Critical Incidents on 10 May.
Taking place at the Learning Resource Centre (in Theatre A102) at Carlow IT, the workshop will be opened by Dr Patricia Mulcahy, President of IT Carlow, followed by keynote speaker Prof Stephen Regal, principal psychotherapist/co-director of the Centre for Trauma, Resilience and Growth, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
The keynote speaker is also Special Associate Professor in the School of Sociology and Social Policy, Nottingham University and a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Mental Health, Nottingham.
He consults and trains extensively with UK police forces on the provision of post trauma support and has been consultant to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support since 1998.
CISM Network Ireland provides a forum for the exchange of best practice information on CISM. Run by an inter-agency committee, comprising a wide range of both statutory and voluntary emergency and military agencies (north and south) it’s the leading group to advise, work with and support the emergency services in implementing CISM in Ireland.
